Listen: Ill Poetic – “Synesthesia: The Yellow Movement EP (Instrumentals)”

Last year, Ill Poetic released Synesthesia: The Yellow Movement Ep.  While I didn’t like the lyrical part of the finished product much for a various reasons that I won’t delve into at this moment but would upon request; I thought the general concept of bringing the Ohio funk musicians and sounds that you are sampling into the studio could be a great idea because it nutures generational cultural understanding and increases perspective on an area’s history.

Ill Po just released the instrumentals to “Synesthesia: The Yellow Movement EP”  yesterday to in conjunction with his crowdfunding campaign to make a video for the song Silhouette off this EP.

Throwback Thursday- IOK Club Clau Wall in Cincinnati

Club Clau

I think this was 2003 but not sure. Whenever it was…You can see my friends and crewmates Five, Hery, Cern, Sez, Arel, and Gamble most certainly blazed this graffiti production on the back of Club Clau in Cincinnati, Ohio

Video: Afghan Whigs Ft. Usher & Sinkane @ The Fader Fort SXSW

“So I was watching this Afghan Whigs show and a really famous R & B singer came out.”

I’ve listened to Usher in my life. But I intially couldn’t wrap my head around this. I mean. It does make sense. The Afghan Whigs have covered Frank Ocean, TLC and the Supremes in the past. So this isn’t that weird for revered Cincinnati, Ohio alternative Rock Band.

Usher part-owns the Cleveland Cavs so it’s all Ohio in some aspects.

Oh yeah. Ahmed Gallab aka Sinkane joined in. Usher performed Sinkane’s song “Runnin” with Sinkane and the Afghan Wigs. You can see this at 22:40 mark. So yes our friend and Columbus ex-pat Ahmed played with Usher &  The Afghan Whigs. Holy Fuck.
