1986 Slayer Interview About Signing to Def Jam, Censorship + More

As you may have heard, Slayer guitarist Jeff Hanneman died today of either necrotizing fasciitis which is a flesh eating disease or liver failure. Above is a 1986 interview with Jeff and Tom Araya from Slayer on a UK Show Called Monsters of Rock. In this interview,  they discuss the logic of being only Metal Band on Def Jam, controversy over their holocaust referencing song “Angel of Death” and problems with W.A.S.P.’s Blackie Lawless.

Below is Slayer playing “Reining Blood” and “Angel Of Death” Live in NYC also in 1986.

Obviously, Public Enemy sampled “Angel of Death” for “She Watches Channel Zero” off of It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back.
