VIdeo: Hanni El Khatib – “Family”

Noisey premiered this video for Hanni El Khatib’s video for Family. .

Nick Walker directed the video and What he said about the video was this:

“I directed the video in the beginning of January 2013 up at the Wright Ranch in Malibu. I had written that treatment 3 years ago in a notebook with other ideas and concepts. After a few conversations with Hanni about different video ideas, I sent him over some scans from the notebook with a few different ideas. A year after receiving these he asked me if I was still interested in doing the ‘Wild Asian motorcycle Sex Gang’ video, and I said, ‘Of course.'”

You might say “hey, this sounds like raunchy garage rock”. You might be right. But it also must be noted that Hanni El Khatib was once the creative director for HUF, and left that job to help become the part-owner of Innovative leisure who will release Head in the DIrt on April 30th. So Hanni is not only a drunk, a garage rocker who likes psych rock and early R+B; Mr. El Khatib was also a skater.

“Family”is off Head in the Dirt by Hanni El Khatib which is an album produced by Daniel Auerbach of the Black Keys. Daniel Auerbach and Hanni EL Khatib met in the Paris and bonded over whiskey and I assume music because Hanni El Khatib subsequently recorded music with the Grammy award winning Rock n Roll musician.

Mobb Deep Performing “The Infamous” At Chaos In Tejas

I was stoked to see Prodigy joined by Havoc at Life or Death P.R.’s SXSW showcase last year. Above is terrible video of “Shook Ones” being performed at that showcase.

Later in the year., of course, Havoc may or may have taken to twitter and alleged that Prodigy had sex with men in prison which led to speculation of a Mobb Deep break-up. Normally, this would’nt be an issue but contextually it wasn’t what the Mobb was going for.

Well, Mobb Deep is doing what anyone should do after turmoil —taking it back to the essence. Er maybe not the essence because this isn’t a show at the Tunnel. But the Q-Boro duo are playing their classic album The Infamous at hardcore festival Chaos In Tejas.  Mobb Deep has long been down for HC. I recall them getting sued by Sick of It All for stealing the “Alleyway Dragon”. Also  this mash-up exists.

Full-Line-up after the jump.
